Our story began over 25 years ago when founder, Natalie, fell in love with creating wool felt toys, Waldorf dolls & gnomes, and decorations for family and friends. Back then, finding 100% wool felt and natural doll-making supplies in Canada or the US was nearly impossible, so Natalie began importing the materials herself (and I quote) ‘to fuel the obsession’.

In 2000, Bear Dance Crafts was officially born as a way to share those quality natural craft supplies with others first in Victoria, then the Kootenays, and now back home on Vancouver Island. In those early days, we didn’t have a brick-and-mortar store; instead, we connected with crafters the old-school way by setting up tables at fairs and mailing out paper catalogues!

Today, we’re delighted to offer the very products we know and love right here on our website. Welcome, and happy crafting!

Our goal is to help keep alive the spirit of imagination through products that inspire creativity, playfulness, and nurture personal growth.
